Zeta Homes and Habitat for HumanityAs a builder I always like to see how others are building. Thursday I had the opportunity to tour the facilities
of ZETA, a modular home builder that is nothing like the the prefab homes you may be familiar with. What they build
uses net zero energy and is manufactured in their clean tech production facility that minimizes waste and emissions.
I took a few pictures during my tour with the US Green Building Council Northern CA Chapter meeting. Check out the ZETA
website: www.zetacommunities.com On the same day I also had the opportunity to tour one of Habitat
for Humanity's LEED Gold homes. It is so inspiring to see homes being built green and energy efficient, and at the
same time being affordable to people with modest incomes. Check out their website too: www.shfh.org/doc.asp?id=16

GREY WATER FLOWINGImpact Builders has just completed their first laundry to landscape greywater irrigation system. Laundry water from
our home office now goes to mulch basins surrounding bushes and fruit trees. The water no longer must go to the sewer.
We now can send this "waste water" into our yard where it will be happily taken up by plants who will turn it into
food for us to enjoy. It is great to take that extra step from water conservation to on site water recycling.
Contact us for a consultation and we can help you figure out the best way to address the greywater in your home. Click
on the slide show on this page to see some pictures of the system installed.

Greywater Going LegitI Have recently taken an exciting course on greywater presented by Greywater Action in Oakland. Greywater reuse turns
out to be a great (and now legal if done correctly) way to put waste water back into the nutrient/water cycle Be on
the look out at this blog for updates on installations by Impact Builders -Neil
